History of Event. Mercy Endeavors’annual Jazzin’ on Jackson fundraiser began in 2013. The name reflects Mercy Endeavors seniors’ appreciation of the jazz music genre and uplifted spirits. Proceeds from the event were used to help create a new center on Jackson Avenue to accommodate the growing number of seniors in the Irish Channel and Lower Garden District. In 2009, the Jamie Coleman family donated a parcel of land on Jackson Avenue to Mercy Endeavors. Since that time, four blighted buildings were cleared and a new and improved center to opened in March 2017. The new senior center was made possible by generous donors to Jazzin’ on Jackson, the Sisters of Mercy, local donors and the state of Louisiana Capital Outlay process.
